Local Licence Applicant Guide
Vaughan has distinct commercial and employment nodes at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, Woodbridge, and along the Highway 400 corridor. Construction, retail management, and commercial property security are fields where individuals may be applying for an Ontario security guard or private investigator licence. Ontario's licence guidance page identifies the CRJMC as the check type for that application — consult that page for current provider and submission requirements, and confirm with your employer or the licensing body what is needed for your specific situation.
The requester or recipient is responsible for identifying the correct check type before ordering. A CRJMC covers criminal records and judicial matters. A vulnerable sector check is a legally distinct product, not interchangeable with a CRJMC, and is applicable only where a position involves regular, unsupervised contact with vulnerable individuals — it requires a separate process with additional steps. Anyone performing security work that may be licensable under Ontario's Private Security and Investigative Services Act should confirm current licensing requirements and any applicable exemptions with the relevant authority.
Vaughan's construction, logistics, hospitality, and retail sectors include employers where security staff performing licensable duties should confirm whether an Ontario licence is required — which in turn requires a CRJMC as part of the Service Ontario application.
York Regional Police provides an official online portal for local police record checks for Vaughan residents. This is an official local resource; follow the requester's guidance and Ontario's licence page to determine which check type your situation requires.
Completing a CRJMC check online means applicants do not need to travel to a service location — practical for those managing construction or shift-based work schedules in Vaughan. Consult Ontario's current licence page for provider and submission requirements.
A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), also called a Level II police check, is one type of police record check. Confirm the current check requirement, issuer, format, recency, and acceptance directly with the licensing authority before ordering.
