Defend-it Legal Services Professional Corporation o/a CRJMC.solutions

Effective Date: June 1, 2025  ·  Governing Law: Province of Ontario, Canada

1. Introduction & Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at crjmc.solutions and the Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) service offered through it (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Defend-it Legal Services Professional Corporation, carrying on business as CRJMC.solutions ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing our website, placing an order, or submitting a CRJMC application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service following notice of any amendment constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

CRJMC.solutions offers an online application path for Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Checks (CRJMCs). The organization receiving a result determines whether a CRJMC, and which issuer, format, and recency, meets its requirements. The Service may be relevant to people applying for:

  • Ontario Security Guard Licences (Ministry of the Solicitor General)
  • Ontario Private Investigator Licences (Ministry of the Solicitor General)
  • Other regulated occupations or licences requiring a government-issued criminal record check

When processing is complete, delivery is provided by email to the address you provide. Processing and delivery timelines can vary and are not guaranteed.

Police-check processing is powered by LawCheck (lawcheck.ca). We do not make any representation that the service is affiliated with a government, police service, or licensing authority.

3. Eligibility

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Be the individual who is the subject of the criminal record check (we do not accept third-party applications on behalf of another person without proper written authorization);
  • Provide truthful, accurate, and complete personal information required to process the requested check; and
  • Have a legitimate purpose requiring a Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all of the foregoing eligibility requirements.

4. Platform Provider & Payment Processing

The Service uses third-party technology providers as part of application operations. Review the applicable provider policies before submitting personal information.

Payment is handled through the applicable checkout process. If you have a question about a charge, please contact us at admin@defendit.ca or 289-275-3513.

The current fee for a CRJMC through our Service is $54.99 + applicable HST. Fees are subject to change without prior notice; the price displayed at the time of your order governs your transaction.

6. Refund Policy

Due to the nature of the Service and the costs incurred once processing begins, all sales are generally final.

Before Submission

If processing has not yet begun and you contact us within 24 hours of payment, we will consider a refund request on a case-by-case basis.

After Submission

Once processing has begun, no refund is available, regardless of the outcome of the check (including returns for incomplete information, identification issues, or changes to your licensing plans).

Technical Errors

If a duplicate charge or technical error occurs on our part, please contact us immediately. We will investigate and issue a correction where applicable.

To request a refund review, contact us at admin@defendit.ca or call 289-275-3513.

7. Delivery & Results

When processing is complete, your result is delivered to the email address provided at the time of application. Processing and delivery timelines can vary, including because of identity verification or other processing requirements.

We are not responsible for delivery failures caused by incorrect email addresses, spam filters, or email provider issues. Contact us if you have questions about an application status.

We make no representation that a result will satisfy any requester’s requirements or be accepted for a particular licensing, employment, platform, or other purpose. Confirm the required check type, issuer, format, recency, and acceptance directly with the requester before ordering.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
  • Submit an application on behalf of another individual without that individual's knowledge and written consent;
  • Provide false, fraudulent, or misleading personal information;
  • Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt our systems, servers, or the Canpro Technologies platform;
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or reproduce any portion of our website or the Secure Online Screening platform; or
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers on our website without our prior written consent.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and design — is the property of Defend-it Legal Services Professional Corporation or its licensors (including Canpro Technologies Inc. with respect to the Secure Online Screening platform). Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in any intellectual property owned or licensed by us. The LawCheck name and branding are the property of their respective owners and are used with permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times;
  • The results of a CRJMC will meet your specific requirements or be accepted by any particular employer or authority; or
  • RCMP processing times will meet any particular deadline.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Ontario and Canadian law, Defend-it Legal Services Professional Corporation, its directors, officers, staff, licensors, and service providers (including Canpro Technologies Inc.) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of income, employment opportunities, or licensing decisions made by third parties. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be submitted to us for informal resolution by contacting admin@defendit.ca. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

13. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Defend-it Legal Services Professional Corporation with respect to your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements or representations.
